This is the sound of 12 guitars and 4 basses feeding back at the same time. The tracks were recorded individually, but then "played" like one instrument via the recording console and it's faders. "Altered States..." features pitch variations via tape playback speed manipulation.

It is oddly musical, and soothing at times. Listening with headphones is encouraged to get the full experience of the sweeping stereo image.
